Silhouette

under 60 minutes Blue easy Other None

This was my first try at a silhouette painting...and it was a ton of fun. I was inspired by Marta's youtube video (maremi small arts channel)  and it was so relaxing.

I  taped the base to my work mat and then used assorted acrylics (I used decoart but any acrylic paint will do) to make the background in shades of blue. Once that was done (and dry) I started in with the black paint and a very fine brush, starting off the page and flicking upwards. It was a bit scary because after all its black paint!!!  but if you don't over think it, then its great fun and I got totally engrossed in the tree.

I have since seen loads of interpretations o this style and they are all great. I made mine 7x7 as I am probably going to use this on a card but you can do whatever size you want. I spent just under an hour on this so its a fairly quick project...why not give it a go... you won't be sorry ;)

Wow! It's fantastic. I feel compelled to get out the paintbox now as well. Those bullrushes along the bottom are especially good. The tree is really well done too....and the sky! I love all of it.
