Felt leaves

Some tips on how to create the look without necessarily making the cushion! Cut out approx 12 leaves (2" x1") i used the cricut but you could make a template on paper and cut around that directly on the felt. Pin the leaves onto a plain cushion (unzip the cushion and place a hand inside so that you don't sew through front and back by mistake and then you wont be able to get the cushion pad back in!) Now on mine because i made the linen cusion cover i could stitch the leaves with my machine, if you are upcycling an existing cover you will probably find it easier to hand stitch across the leaves from top point to the the bottom of each leaf. Because of the texture of the felt your stitches will most likely disappear into the felt and you wont see them especially if you use a matching thread and keep your stitches small. Finally i did a running stitch across the cushion, i did use embroidery thread (for a bolder look) and 2 strands but you could just use ordinary cotton thread. If you wanted to keep it simple how about cutting a heart from felt and hand sewing that onto a cushion, that would look great too!  Remember because felt doesnt fray you can just cut and sew onto your project! Happy Sewing :-)
