Arranging scrapbook pages
How do folks arrange their 12 x 12 scrapbook pages? Mine are just random pics of subjects/themes that I've chosen to put into the same book, but I was reading something today that said if you'd not done a scrapbook before, rather than doing a 12 x 12 for your first attempt which could be daunting, to do a smaller one instead. When I've done small ones like 6 x 6 or the folded envelope ones I do stick with the same subject throughout, but not with a 12 x 12. Just got me thinking as to what other scrappers might do.
So much to craft, so little time

Re: Arranging scrapbook pages
I do mine chronologically so im justy working through my pics and keep the same theme together so my holiday toPembrokeshire are together then ive moved on to the next event. My safari holiday takes up 2 albums of their own. Not sure how many ill use for the 2011 one!!!! Did do youngest daughter a cd mini album of our tour round the Emirates Stadium. Wont do another too small for me not enough room to journal or embellish. Only did it cos it used cd's and her being a music journalist knew shed like the idea. Sandra
Keep grinning!

Re: Arranging scrapbook pages
Mine are also random. I have started to do them more chronologically in the past year, but I have so many old photos that often get popped into the current album. I have well over a dozen filled albums and they are too many to rearrange. I have a few themed albums, such as the Once Upon a Time and Rockstar ones but they have photos from different eras in them, but I used the same paper pads throughout. The Rockstar one has a song title theme, starting with "Baby Love". The LOs don't all have song titles, but most do, or lines such as "I got sunshine on a cloudy day"

Re: Arranging scrapbook pages
Well Cyndi this is a good question!!!! ;) I have albums for each of my grandchildren and they are in chronological order so you can see the changes!! Then I have 'Heritage' albums....photos of my Mothers family in one and my Fathers family in another.....these tend to be old photos that I have scrapped and are in no particular order...just as I have done them! Then I have an album of 'Me'.....photos of me from when I was little to now......in no order and could be birthdays, things I like etc. Then I have albums of Sharon.....from when she was little to now....includes layouts of wedding and ones with her children and husband. Next...albums of me with the grandchildren....they can argue over these when I am gone!!! I did at one time do more than one layout of the same/similar photos and put them in their individual albums....but now there are three of them it was getting ridulous!!! Next holidays.....I do have an album of odd one/two page layouts from various holiday.....but obviously I did a whole album of Disney and I have also done mini albums of single holidays!!! Lastly I have an album of odd things that don't fit any of the above!!! Layouts of my garden, my dog, my houses, trips to Craft Fairs etc!!! Basically the only ones in order are the children's albums!!! ;) As you can tell I do have lots of albums...haven't counted them but must be getting on for 40...and then there are the smaller ones....might have to have an extension built to house them all!!!!!!!!!   Hopefully I still have a few more years of scrapping and I reckon the children will have to hire a van for theirs!!!!!!!!    PS... Just realised it has taken me so long to type this there have been other posts!!!

Jackie you really make me jealous with all your albums I have only managed a 6 x6 one that I did for my mum and it was one day... her birthday with my kids. Means so much more now that our son is no longer with us and I always want to do more but just cant seem to get my mind around it all Its a great idea to do one of yourself... as Mel Heaton says scrapbookers tend to do children and grandchildren but its great for your great grandchildren to know about you xxx

Re: Arranging scrapbook pages
This post has made me think as I've not done a scrap book in years. I think I used to have differnt ones on differnt themes. And I do remember a I used to keep one on all the special things I did with DH in the first year of our marriage so like a diary of events with photo's and train tickets, concert tickets, theatre programes, the odd photo of an outing with something from where ever we spent the day all in chronalogical order. I wonder if I still have them up in my loft?????

Re: Arranging scrapbook pages
My scrapbooks are a bit sparse contents wise. The 12x12 pages daunt me a bit. I did do 8x8 of two of my grandsons in there first year but that was at least 5 years ago now. Have been doing a bit of journal, scrap, smash book stylee in a custom made notebook recently which I find seems to suit me better. Have one already made for this year, but haven't started yet and here we are near the end of March. Note to self...must do better.
I really appreciate all your lovely comments on my projects. Your feedback is very important to me.

Re: Arranging scrapbook pages
mines vary depending on the book Dads scrapbook was based chronologically but had mixes in it too like it started in the town his parents lived in (they left while gran was pregnant with dad) his home town, his siblings, meeting mum, a page for each of us 3 kids, a few pages of mixed family ones cousins and us kids growing up then a few events like going to see pope john paul in 1982, and his favorite prayer. pages for us kids with our partners then a page for his 2 oldest grandkids, and a page for the youngest grandkids, a page for his friends and some various summer photos over the years and some of dad through the years. the kids ones are themed parties, birthdays, christmas, christening, birth, mummy, daddy, lots of different pages with one or two thing on it x I must say I prefer 12"x12" as I love adding fabrics and other little snippets from the kids (favorite outfits, blankets, shells from the seaside etc. harder to fit them in to a 6X6 xx

Re: Arranging scrapbook pages
Gosh you all seem so well organised :o I guess it's still early days for me so there may come a time when I am more themed and organised (but I'm not holding my breath on that one!)   I thought I was doing well with a) at least finally getting round to doing it, and b) getting them in chronological order     Having said that, I did win one of the lovely 12 x 12s in a Trimcraft comp a while back and daughter also gave me one for Xmas so I could at least put hols into one of them. My original album is full anyway so the second album can be used for new pics. THanks everyone, this has been really interesting reading what you all do - and obviously given me some ideas, so thanks for that. Not sure I'll work myself into the numbers that some of you do - Jackie I don't think my house would have room for 40 albums - especially as I already have 25 [u:1120x7p4]lever arch[/u:1120x7p4] files in the basement on family history  :o   (and we're a very small family at that!!!) :D
