Re: Christmas baking recipe share
Well done Adele..I was just going to start a thread. Our fave recipe for Mincemeat is on [url:3une4n4o]http://www.deliaonline.com[/url:3une4n4o] Homemade Christmas Mincemeat. We like to eat mince pies, mince plaits etc thru the year. The family love it too. We substitute chopped apricots for the peel as we don't like it and use vegetarian suet. As this mincemeat is cooked on low for 3 hours it keeps extremely well. Especially with the addition of the brandy. Colin usually makes two batches which keep through the year. We have just one left now and he needs to get busy  Having first made this many, many years ago we would never buy shop bought mincemeat as it just doesn't taste as good.
I really appreciate all your lovely comments on my projects. Your feedback is very important to me.

Re: Christmas baking recipe share
Quick Cheese straws We also love cheese straws in our family. Traditionally we use my dear old mum's method which is so simple. One packet of bought puff pastry...loads of grated cheese. Roll out pastry load with cheese, fold in from 2 sides and roll out again. Repeat making sure open ends are folded in. Cut into strips whatever length you like. Cook as general puff pastry recipes...not sure here as to temps etc. The cheese melts out onto the tin and goes all crispy.oh my word! Make sure to use plenty of cheese.
I really appreciate all your lovely comments on my projects. Your feedback is very important to me.

Re: Christmas baking recipe share
I would ditch the peel from the recipe too (ugh) but I doubt it would be worth me making a batch of mincemeat....but then again the apple and mincemeat strudel makes my heart sing and my mouth water....so I could be tempted.....if I didn't already need to shift 30 excess pounds
