We like to eat mince pies, mince plaits etc thru the year. The family love it too.
We substitute chopped apricots for the peel as we don't like it and use vegetarian suet. As this mincemeat is cooked on low for 3 hours it keeps extremely well. Especially with the addition of the brandy. Colin usually makes two batches which keep through the year. We have just one left now and he needs to get busy
Having first made this many, many years ago we would never buy shop bought mincemeat as it just doesn't taste as good.
