Re: knitted socks
That's a gorgeous pair of socks Angela. I have my bamboo double pointed needles but the 2mm are like cocktail sticks and I got a splinter in my finger off them. They are guaranteed for a year but I think a more substantial pair of size 2mm are in order before any more sock knitting happens. I'm still knitting 'in the round' but I'm doing the sleeves for my cardigan. It's on a yoke so it's all on circular or double pointed needles. I'm getting on rather well with the first sleeve after my practice with the rather large sock lol x

[/quote:7dy915g0]      We Certainly Could Couldnt we :D :D :D :D :D The Group I go to was started up by a Nurse In her Home.. a few years back.. Well word spread.... and as she was coming up to "Retirement" She Put all her money into opening this Shop Unit ..  . Ok its out the way of passing trade.. but Its ticking over nicely... Half the unit is The shop and the other half is the groups layout with seats coffee tables settees etc etc... we all pay £2.00 each to go And that includes us to have as many refreshments we want to.. (tea /coffee juice/ biccys) Half way through the Times We do a Raffle... The winner gets a "Chitty" to spend in the shop, same as 2nd prize 3rd prize gets the "Booby box"  we all like getting that best as you can pick your own prize Last time I won the "booby" got a set of wool sewing needles time before that I got my Stitch markers   all useful items to win... the shop is open all normal shop times and she has Groups everyday now even 2 more in the evenings and on a saturday... Its Nice to go sit and chat with Like minded people .... think we do more chatting some days than actual knitting or crochet   best thing is If anyone ges stuck theres always someone there that is willing to help... Best bit is it gets me out of the House And I get Female company    a Few of the "Tuesday" knitters get together now and then to go to the Pictures.. and out on a bus trips.. Got a Collar to knit on a Cable jumper then back to sock number 6..  before I start a Hooded top for my daughter knitted in animal Flutterby wool.... Its quite "chunky" so should knit up quickly as its only done in stocking stitch.... ooooooo I can hardly wait to start a Aran dress tunic for me Ready for next winter...   looks a "Challenging" pattern too.. Wait till some one Complements you When your wearing something you have created!!Its a good feeling to answer a question "Where did you buy that?.." and you reply "I made it" :D :D :D Its Just like the feeling you get over everyones Card crafts too

Re: knitted socks
Thanks to all who commented on my socks. It was much appreciated. Tazzy, you certainly sounds like the knitting queen. I think you must be a very experienced knitter. You certainly are churning out the goodies.. And they don't sound easy projects. I used to be able to remember pattern rows when I was younger, but struggle now. I am also very impatient if I can't get the pattern correct, so prefer smaller projects now ....I took a long break... about 20 years from knitting as i had to have a few ops on my hands due to carpal tunnel, both hands and a trigger thumb. I got rid of all my knitting patterns.... And I had some lovely vintage ones that came from my mum and Nana plus scores of pairs of needles! Had to go out and replace it all... And I don't like working in metric! I bet your friends and family love you... But it is nice to be able to make things for them. Your knitting group sounds lovely and it's nice that you can get support from like minded in the group. Mrs N...oooh I would definitely get some steel needles, your poor fingers!!! Bamboo needles are very pointy though. (You also sound to be quite a fan hand with the pins!) My needles came as part of the'sock kit"... It included the wool, markers, needles, pattern and another pattern for knitting gloves. I bought an extra ball of wool then I could knit a pair of socks for my hubby.... And that's why, Sue, no one will nick my socks.. Cos there only me and him.... And the cat at home now. The 3 sprogs flew the nest a while ago.. And the 6 grandchildren wouldn't like the knitting. Anyway all, enjoy your knitting and looking forward to seeing your finished items. Angela Angela

Re: knitted socks
     Im certainly not a Knitter Queen    Im just a Crafter who gets Restless hands/fingers all the time.... I have Arthritic hands :( And when I cant Hold knitting needles I break out my Crochet.. Now this I only self taught myself last year from a couple of cheap books from the Works shop... and with the help of new "knit-pro" wide handle hooks I manage... I stopped knitting/wool crafting For many many years and came back to it with the Lure of all the new wools/silks/cottons on the Market nowdays... I will say that with Good wool - knitting is a pleasure... To see it Grow and the feel of it nowdays Is Great!!! And knitting and sewing alongside Baking Is Making a "Come-back".... please Be Careful if You "Down load" Free Knitting patterns from the Web.. As American Knitting and Crochet Terminology Is Different than the English version....

Re: knitted socks
Beautiful work there Annette, my cardigan is a plain one with a yoke patterned top. I never used to knit anything plain, I got bored too easily and my knitting is a bit funny, I knit left handed. So it's slower going. So it's quite a feat for me to knit something big that's plain, but it's not done yet... :? I would love to see your entrelac Annette, I have never done any and when you mentioned it I had to Pinterest it and my goodness, how beautiful! That may well be my next new thing to learn. Thank you for mentioning it! x

Re: knitted socks
Annette the shop I got the wool pattern and hooks from for my crochet has a few knit and natter classes but I go out to so many other things I just dare not even suggest to my dear OH that I go to that as well although I really would love to. the poor man gets left on his own quite enough really as he is a happy home bird , only doing things around the house and running the bowls club, he never complains about my social life but I just can't even think of the knit and natter class at the moment perhaps if S/U ever closes I might just off now to do a bit more crochet I'm really hooked       Mary x
all you need is love and chocolate
Thank you to everyone for the lovely comments I recieve on my Gallery Mary x
