Re: knitted socks
Hey This is Great!! Mary enjoy yourself.. looking forward to seeing your make in 2017... infact everyone enjoy... im a Tight Knitter so some times Have to go "up" in needle size.. if you a loose knitter you go "down" in needle size... my Other tip is.....That if you knit a tension square add a Button hole in to it.. Then pop that in your bag to take with you when buying Buttons.... then you can test to see if the buttons you choose will fit the garment i cant knit today :( got the Grand kids making easter Bonnets... but i will be knitting tonight   almost Finished another cable Jumper for my grandson just doing the collar - then back to the socks
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

"Gingers girl":3glyo9fe wrote: Looking forward to seeing your crocheted jacket Mary! I love crochet, I taught myself from watching you tube tutorials... No one in my family crocheted!!! Only learned last year and made a nice throw for our sofa bed on our narrowboat from the basic granny squares. It looks great. I'm in the process of making another one this time in pastel lilacs, yellows and whites for our bed at home. I have just bought some lovely crocheted thread from Hobbycraft on line. It's DMC SIZE 3 and was 3 for 2 so worked out quite reasonable. I'm going to use this to make some flowers. They should turn out quite delicate looking. I'm going to turn them into brooches. Mrs N...Regarding the knitted socks ... Mine are knitted on 2.25mm needles and I tend to knit quite tight. I tried my first sock on and it fit perfect. Sock 2 is almost finished, just working my way to the toe shaping. As for knitting a sock quickly.... Well my problem is that, as my OH says, I am a butterfly. I constantly flit between projects. I start one thing, break off, onto another, break off, back to the next ... Quite exhausting really plus I am then thinking of the next thing I want to do. I have so many ideas that I have to write them down... Otherwise I forget! Thank goodness I took early retirement otherwise I would be really frustrated! It's weird really, because when I go to our boat I can sit for hours just crocheting or knitting, but when I'm at home I have access to too many things... Paper crafts, crochet, knitting so jump from one to the other... And that can be during one day!!! I think the are others out there that 'flit around' like me!!!......or am I the only one? Anyway sounds like everyone here is having fun with new or rekindled past times... And so long as it keeps us happy - that's the main thing. Angela
[/quote:3glyo9fe] angela.. Im a "Flitter" too.... I do other crafts in the day time and Knit/crocher in the evenings...I can be Encaustic wax painting one min Pyrogrophy the next besides card/scrapbooking in between... I love doing "crochet "Throws" (granny squares).. but now I knit too Ive tried doing a Entralec Cover/throw uses up "odd bits" of wool.. these Entraclec blankets can take ages to make as there a thing you can pic up if and when and add to...I think they look more like a Keepsake as all the odd bits of wool are memories of things you have made I like crocheting Butterflies.. and making decorations with them... (like a Baby mobile only Adult...  )... saw some new Crochet cotton yesterday Its a white to lilac hues Its Gorgeous.. and only £4.00 so the shops Ordered some in... :D :D :D

Re: knitted socks the first pair is finished
My first ever pair of socks is finished. So pleased with them. The only thing I am not happy with is that the sequence of colours on each sock is not the same. But that's a lesson to be learned for the future. I thought i had got the colours matching.... Obviously not quite  I had to Google how to do Kitchener stitch... A bit faffy but I managed. Anyway just casting on now for my hubby's plain coloured socks... Hope they turn out as good! Angela

Re: knitted socks
Jayne I have just seen your lovely sock - well done - We have a knitting craze on our hands. :o  My knitting is a cabled sleeping bag - so again I taught myself something new - how to cable...bit fiddly but I have the hang of it now. Oh yes better explain the sleeping bag is for my granddaughter not me!!!! Sylvia :)

Re: knitted socks
Well done everyone, Hope your all relaxing as you knit or crochet away..... Sylvia, i too love doing cable patterns but lately Ive had a Few written patterns that i had to read each row to knit it... Sometimes I can remember the patterns so knit away quickly but these last two.. woooo i have to read and knit it at the same time.. im now onto my 4th sock!!! Just doing the foot then the toe i like going to my "Group" each week as I can see others knitting away and can feel the different wools and how they are to knit/crochet... plus its situated in a wool shop
