Anybody had....
.... problems with their Big Shot? I've had mine 3 or 4 years and now the handle is acting up. It was making a terrible noise and had become rather jerky to use so OH oiled it for me. It's not really any better and when I was using it today the handle was causing such a problem I honestly thought it was going to break the plates I was trying to put through. I turned it in the opposite direction and that wasn't quite so bad. Now, that's the only direction I can use it in and as it's not the normal one I'm finding it a bit awkward. I'm also a bit concerned that the same thing might happen - probably when I'm doing something in a rush or important! Has the machine had it's day I wonder? I got it originally because I liked the fact nothing plugged in and I thought there was less chance of anything going wrong with it. I wouldn't consider I use it excessively, no more than most I suspect, and in fact didn't use it for a big chunk of time when I had my shoulder operation as I wasn't allowed to. Be interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem and if so how they resolved it. OH can't remember where he got it from so can't exactly go back to them with a query. The positive side to this is that Xmas is coming up and if I need a new machine it's as good a time as any to get one. The negative side is that with OH still redundant I daren't ask for something that costs that much money.

Re: Anybody had....
Cyndi have you tried removing the handle and refitting it... might do the trick. If it really is a handle problem you may be able to source a replacement

Re: Anybody had....
I agree with Christa. Mine had a very loose handle and I refitted it and it has been OK since, touch wood.I think the holding nut was a funny shape, but Dave had a tool that fitted it.

Re: Anybody had....
Aww Hun What a to-do... I havent ever had a big shot but The sizzix sizzlet machine Broke!!! Took it apart and it was the Nylon cogs!!! one tooth had broken off      Tried gluing it back etc but nope wouldnt have none of it... :( :( :( :( :( Hope it is just the handle on yours hunny Its worth a try... Wonder if you can buy new cogs???? Or maybe find another crafter whos machine has broken with a different problem (If it is the cogs) and mix and match to get one machine that does work ;) ;) ;) ;)
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

Re: Anybody had....
they come with an allen key to tighten the handle. i guess over the years it has become loose. the only problems if you could call them that is the little rubber bung that fits over the allen screw, kept falling out, but glue dots solved that, or i dropped the multipurpose platform onto the wooden floor and a little but of the plastic hinge broke iff but it never effected the machine at all. hope you manage to fix it. if nit give sizzix a call/email to see if its repairable.

Re: Anybody had....
OK girls, it's now sorted :D Thanks for your ideas. My machine didn't have an allen key for the handle but OH had one. Problem is/was that it wasn't so much loose as just wouldn't budge in one direction. OH has now taken the whole thing apart - and furthermore put it all back together again without having any bits left over     It seems the two cogs weren't working in sync any more but were fine when he held them in place  so he's oiled them (the cogs that is, not his fingers although they may have wound up with some on   )and now I barely have to use any effort at all to move the handle in either direction. He also discovered some rogue bits of card and paper trapped in there - heaven knows how that happened, but it certainly couldn't have helped. So, all sorted, everything back together again, put in place - and then one of the legs dropped off        Fortunately not the end of the world as all it needs is a bit of glue to stick it back on again and then it's all systems go - yippee  Thanks again for all your feedback, it was much appreciated.

Re: Anybody had....
Good to know you have managed to get it sorted Cyndi. If you are like me, its one of your favourite tools and not being able to use it would have been awful.
