May Craft Diary by Kathy Hodson

It’s been a time to celebrate in our family recently with a wedding, my Dad’s birthday, and the news that my sister in law is expecting a baby in the autumn.

This of course means that I have had to up my crafty game! I’ve been busily knitting garments for the little one’s impending arrival, all in neutral colours of course as we don’t know whether it’ll be a pink or blue one!  So far the baby has a new pair of booties, a new hat (I still have to make the mittens to match), a half-finished jacket, and a blanket which, if all goes well, should be ready before my sister in law’s due date!

Earlier this month my husband and I attended one of my best friend’s wedding. It was a fabulous day and I helped with the table decorations, making the envelopes for the favours and providing the table numbers.

I was so pleased to be able to help my friend’s fianc√© realise her vision for her theme and contribute to such a special occasion.

My Dad’s birthday was two days after the wedding so we just continued celebrating with a family dinner al-fresco. I didn’t know what to buy the man who practically has everything, but I knew he’d appreciate a handmade card. He loves the outdoors and his only birthday wish is that we spend a day walking in the countryside together.

This made the Dovecraft Lost & Found collection absolutely perfect for his card. I made a panel card that folds flat to go inside the envelope whilst standing beautifully when displayed. I decorated both sides of the card so that it looked nice closed and open. We just need to book our date for our walk now.

I’ve also been working with the adorable new Let’s Celebrate paper pad, submitting projects for a couple of magazine features. I just love the party pandas, cycling flamingos and Dalmatians in party hats not to mention the amazing florals and gold foiled papers in the pad!
