Dovecraft A4 Foam Value Pack - Brights
Dovecraft Back to Basics True Blue – Enamel Dots
Toilet Roll Tube & Kitchen Roll Tube
A set of googly eyes, a small yellow feather and twine
How to Make
Project 1: Pirate Hat
Print out the pirate hat template and with two
pieces of black foam cut out the hat. Use double sided tape to stick the sides
of the hat together.
With a piece of white foam, cut out the skull
and cross bones from the template and stick to the centre of the hat. Cut out
the eyes and teeth out of black foam and stick to the skull.
To decorate the pirate hat, we have then cut the
largest circle from the hat template and cut the edges. With another piece of
white foam, cut the smaller circle and stick to the centre of the red circle
and add an adhesive dot to the centre.
To finish, we have placed a small yellow feather
to the right of the hat and placed the foam circle embellishment on top using
double sided tape.
Project 2: Eye Patch
Using the template cut out the eye patch
with a piece of black foam. Carefully pierce the top corners of the eye patch
and feed two pieces of twine through it.
Tie a knot on both sides and cut off the excess. Make sure there is
enough twine to tie a bow around the back of the child’s head.
Tip: ask an adult to help with any cutting or
Project 3: Polly the Parrot
With the parrot template, cut out the body of
the parrot with red foam and wrap around the empty toilet roll tube.
Stick two googly eyes to the centre of the red
foam using double sided tape and cut out the parrot beak using yellow foam and
follow the score guidelines. Fold one of the cut sections over to the other
side to create a diamond shape. This will make a point for the parrot beak.
To create the wings, cut out the two sets of
wings using the Dovecraft red, blue and green foam. Layer the three coloured
wings from largest to smallest using double sided tape and stick to the sides
of the tube.
Add a colourful tail to the parrot by cutting
the three tail feathers in coordinating foam
and stick it to the inside of the toilet roll tube at the back. We have
then cut 3 head feathers using the red, green and blue foam and stuck to the
top of the tube, central to the eyes and beak.
Project 4: Telescope
Wrap a piece of 16.5cm x 21.2cm yellow foam
around the empty kitchen roll tube and stick the ends using double sided tape.
Wrap another piece of yellow foam around the uncovered section of the tube and
cut off any excess.
Cut a piece of brown foam to 14cm x 16.5cm and
wrap around the top of the telescope. Add four adhesive dots on to the top of
the brown foam to create the bolts for the telescope.
Finally, cut a piece of grey foam into a 4.2cm
and then cut a smaller circle in the centre of the foam and stick to the top of
