Alice's crafty make for Mother's Day.
How
long have you been at Trimcraft?
It will soon be 4 years since I first joined Trimcraft. The time
has absolutely flown by and it’s been amazing to play apart in and witness all
the positive changes during that time.
What
is your job role within the company?
I oversee anything that is design or product related. There are
many different aspects to my role which cover everything from reviewing initial
artwork from our licensing partners to sourcing and developing new products to
creating product listings, testing and approving samples and much more. I
manage a fantastic design team who are wonderfully creative and make my job a
lot easier.
What
is an average day like at Trimcraft?
There is no average day! If I'm out of the office I could be
travelling throughout the UK meeting with our partners or visiting design
exhibitions. I also travel further afield to China and Taiwan to meet with our
suppliers and source new products. When I'm in the office, the day flies by as
there's so much to do whether it's reviewing the latest branding, packaging and
designs my team have been working on or getting the wheels in motion for
Trimcraft to bring in a new product, it's certainly never quiet.

What’s
the best thing about working for Trimcraft?
I love that I get to oversee the whole process of developing an
initial idea into a product that is available to buy nationwide. It's brilliant
to be able to put together a product listing or new collection that you hope
people will enjoy crafting with.
What's
your favourite part of working within a team?
The help and support we all give each other - especially from a
creative point of view. If you ever hit a brick wall, it is
great to have creative people around you to give a new perspective.
What
is your favourite Trimcraft product, why?
I struggled with this as there are so many products that I love
and use regularly. I think I would have to say the First Edition 12x12 Albums
at the moment. I am half way through the process of actually printing and
organising my photos from the last couple of years! And the First Edition
Albums are perfect for keeping them safe. I love the luxurious quality of the
albums and there are many beautiful designs to pick from.
What
has been your proudest achievement at Trimcraft?
I think it has to be the very first time I saw a full collection
I had worked on for sale in stores and to see the beautiful projects people
crafted with it.

What
are your favourite hobbies?
If I'm making something I'm happy. That could be cooking,
baking, sewing, papercraft or DIY. I've loved decorating my own home and have
developed an interested in interior design. I love to travel as well,
whether it’s a short city break or a full on sightseeing holiday. I've been
lucky enough to visit lots of amazing places but there are still many more I
want to see.
What
inspires you to craft?
I love crafting for other people. I think giving a handmade gift
or card is thoughtful and unique. It's nice to see a smile and hear someone ask
"did you make this?"

What
3 words would best describe you?
Sarcastic, creative and feisty.
If
you had a million pounds how would you spend it?
Firstly, I'd make sure my family and friends were spoilt rotten.
After that, elderly people are very close to my heart so I'd love to set up a
dignified and fun care home that was free for all - not sure how long a million
would last with that dream but we have to be ambitious right?!
Tell
us something about yourself that would surprise us?
I'm the complete opposite to a film buff. I've hardly seen any
films, including a lot of what people would refer to as "classics"
(think James Bond, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones etc. - not seen a single one)!
2+ hours just seems like such a long time to sit still and concentrate for!
