Introducing Our New Design Team – The Trimcraft Makers

Hello and Happy New Year from all of us here at Trimcraft HQ!

We’re working super hard on some very exciting projects and we can’t wait to share all these new things with you. As some of you may know, we have a dedicated design team here at Trimcraft, people that have an amazing crafty talent and help us with guest projects and much more. This year we’re changing it up!

Late last year we put out a call across all our social medias asking for everyone and anyone who had a creative passion to apply to be part of our new Trimcraft design team and we were overwhelmed by the responses we got (we knew you guys were talented but woah, so many incredible submissions!).

We’ve now, after a lot of tough decisions, got an incredible team of 34 people, all with a variety of interests and specialities including cardmaking, papercraft, scrapbooking, electronic cutting machines, stationery, planners, painting, markers, knitting, crochet and more! Read on to meet the new team!

“Hey, I'm Gee, an artist and ex-Art Teacher! My Youtube channel is all about Drawing - Painting - Illustrating! My videos show you how to draw and paint natural, fantasy & fan-art subjects.  You can watch me demonstrate Aquamarker & Watercolour marker painting, watercolour painting, Promarker drawing tips, Pigment Marker drawings, brush pen inking, coffee painting and Sharpie art as well as some product reviews to help you choose the best product for your artwork...”

“Hi my name is Ann-Marie and I am a self-confessed craftaholic.  If I'm not actually crafting you can guarantee I'm at least thinking about it! I am a working mum and have two amazing kiddies which are my best achievement by far and a very understanding husband who loses me most evenings to the call of stamps and ink. Crafting is my haven - it’s where I can escape to and unwind if I’ve had a particularly difficult day. I have always liked to craft in one form or another but for the past few years I have settled mainly on paper crafting - stamping and cardmaking in particular and will admit to having a ‘healthy’ collection of pretty papers and craft supplies. I’m not really sure I have a crafting ‘style’ as such, but tend to craft where the mood takes me but I do love colour so most of my makes will incorporate that somewhere. I love to share my creations and if I can inspire just one person to have a go then I'm happy.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I’m so happy to have the opportunity to become a Trimcraft Maker I never thought for a second I would get the chance.  I’m very excited and just can’t quite believe it I think I’ve read the e-mail about 10 times just to make sure!  I can’t wait to get creating with such great products and I’m looking forward to sharing my makes and crafty inspiration with lots of people.”

“Hi, I'm Caroline, and I'm a self-confessed scrapbooking addict! I've always been into drawing, painting and all things arts-and-crafty since childhood, but it was about 4 years ago that I found my true passion – everything paper – and before I knew it my craft cupboard was overflowing (it’s now more of a craft house really!) I started out making handmade cards, and quickly looked for other things I could turn my hand to, which is when I began putting my first scrap album together. I absolutely love being able to take a photo, a memory, and turn it into something even more special. My style is generally bright, bold and modern, however I do like to mix things up occasionally as well! When I’m not crafting, I enjoy all things geeky, getting out in nature and relaxing with my rescue cat Wispa – often great sources of photos to scrapbook with, too. I'm also planning for my wedding with the idea as going as DIY as possible, so expect to see some wedding-related crafts over the next year.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“It’s a dream come true to be chosen as a Maker for such an amazing brand, and I can’t wait to start crafting and sharing my projects with you! The very first thing I bought for scrapbooking was a First Edition paper pad, so Trimcraft has been with me on my crafty journey since day one, and I’ve never stopped loving their products. I’m even more excited now the range is expanding, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for us next!”

“A Crafter/Artist/Tutor for many years - I now work as a freelance Demonstrator/Designer for some of the top U.K. Craft and Art suppliers demonstrating crafting products in stores throughout the southwest. I absolutely love all kinds of art and craft including Papercraft, Painting and Drawing, Mixed Media, Jewellery Making, Felting, Stained Glass, Driftwood sculptures and much, much more. You name it and I’ll craft with it. I am currently very interested in re-cycling. My Mixed Media work incorporates hand-made and re-cycled objects found on my local beaches. My main inspiration is “nature” and I try and incorporate the theme of nature into my work, even using real leaves and shells within my pictures. I love trying out new techniques and products and I hope to inspire people, passing on creative ideas so that they even surprise themselves by what they can achieve.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am thrilled to be on the Trimcraft Maker Team. Having been a Demonstrator for Trimcraft for a few years now, I have been very lucky to be able to use the lovely Trimcraft products for all my Demonstration makes. Being able to show customers what to use and how to use these versatile products has been a bonus and now being chosen to be on the Maker Team means I can expand my own creativity and hopefully pass knowledge and inspiration to even more Crafters online. I see crafting as a great way not only to relax but to boost individuals self-confidence whatever age or ability and motivate, not only by trying something new but to boost self-confidence and get that “feel good” factor when you achieve something totally unique and personal. I look forward to joining the team, learning from others and sharing ideas with my fellow Makers.”

“Hi, I’m Daisy! I currently live in the beautiful Sussex countryside & have a crazy dog who puts a smile on my face every day. I’ve been self-employed since I was 18, and my career has involved many learning curves. But I’m glad I took that route because I doubt I would be where I am now if I hadn’t. If I were to give myself an ‘official’ title, I’d probably go with 'full time content creator in the crafting/creative community’ or maybe ‘full time creative’ to keep it short? But that umbrellas many, many different things! I have been crafty my whole life, and in 2014 I set up my YouTube channel which is where everything ‘MyGreenCow’ began. Since then it’s just snowballed. Stationery is where it all started, but now I primarily focus on various kinds of Journaling (Creative journaling, Art journaling, mixed media... etc.). Though, like many crafters I will dip my toes in any sort of creative hobby, and happily share these on my social media platforms too! My favourite crafting product to use is washi tape, and I’ve accumulated quite a large collection over the years. I designed a special shelf for them all, and with the help of my Dad we managed to build it! “

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of the Trimcraft Makers team! I’ve enjoyed using their craft products for many years now and the company as a whole is one I have fully supported throughout my crafty career. 2019 has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me, but I’m so excited to be ending the year by joining the Makers team! Roll on 2020 and all the fun craftiness it will involve, I have no doubts that the new products & collections Trimcraft have in the works will be amazing!”

“I first started along my crafty journey 12 years ago when my Grandson was born, I wanted to make his Mum, my Daughter, a little scrapbook. I purchased some papers, embellishments, glue etc. and I was so proud of my very first scrapbook. Well, it wasn’t long before my stash outgrew its container.  I then started cardmaking, stamping, colouring, making mini books and lots of 3D projects. I am never happier than when I’m in my craft room creating for hours on end. As I work in a busy kitchen as a catering manager, crafting is just the perfect hobby for me. Not only do I find it so relaxing, I love the sense of achievement when a project is finished, especially if it is for a gift. There is nothing more perfect after a day at work than a spot of colouring in, with a lovely cup of coffee and some chocolate biscuits. “

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am absolutely over the moon to be given the opportunity to represent Trimcraft as a member of the Trimcraft Maker Team. As I adore all things papery, their ranges are just so perfect for creating so many projects. I love how everything co-ordinates so well and there are so many beautiful products to choose from. I am so excited to get started and have so many ideas whizzing round in my head.”

“Hi, I'm Emily! I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember. Now at twentysomething I craft every day, even if it just for half an hour. After all, it is (slightly!) cheaper than therapy... Scrapbooking is my craft of choice and as well as traditional layouts I enjoy making mini albums. I like to include stitching, cut files and a dash of mixed media on to my pages. By day I’m an art technician, so I am constantly surrounded by creativity. I love helping our students, even slipping some crafty knowledge in there too – after scrapbooking for so long I’m very good at mounting work! I live in Retford with my better half for almost ten years, who very patiently puts up with my glittery exploits and doesn’t even bat an eyelid when he finds random sequins in bed. He is often the subject of my scrapbook pages and we go on lots of fun adventures together. As well as scrapbooking, I enjoy photography, drawing and curling up with a good natural history book.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am delighted to be working with Trimcraft once again!  I am looking forward to getting my crafty mitts on the latest goodies and sharing my makes with you all!”

“Hello, my name is Enfys and I am addicted to papercrafting. It all started in the USA where we owned a house, and I wandered into a scrapbook store one day. I was fascinated by what I saw, and decided to make my own Christmas cards. That was fifteen years ago, and I am still as fascinated today.  My first love is stamping, I love trying different techniques, and having a go at something new.  I am also a big Cricut fan - I have owned one since they first came out. But give me a couple of dies and inks and I will 'play' happily for hours. I am a bit of a grasshopper, hopping around trying something new I can't wait to try, but I think my style reflects my beginnings in Florida and is quite clean and simple. I have been lucky enough to be on many design teams, and each one has taught me different skills, and have done many commissions for various craft magazines. I live in the West Midlands with my husband Mike, and am a besotted grandmother of five - which means I am always playing catch up with my scrapbooking projects!”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am excited to be joining the Maker design team, I have always been a fan of Trimcraft products and really look forward to using them, and hopefully give a few of you some ideas.....that will be my aim  -  Enfys x”

“Hi! My name's Hannah (also known as Fadesco Makes) and I live in Leicestershire. I first started making cards a few years ago and my love for cardmaking has grown since. I started making cards because I wanted to create my own Christmas cards, and it evolved from there! 2 years ago, I treated myself to the Cricut Explore and it changed paper crafting for me, I love it because it gives you so much more freedom with card making. Before I started cardmaking I also tried candle making, jewellery making and cross stitch but none of them ever stuck, though I do still like to cross stitch sometimes. My mum started me on my crafting journey, she has always been an avid dressmaker and knitter and used to make me the most gorgeous clothes when I was growing up.  I love to have fun crafting, most of my cards will contain some glitter and I love using different patterns and colours to create some striking effects. When making cards I usually start with the paper I want to use and create the card around that paper, I love the First Edition Paper Pads & Dovecraft ranges as there is so much variety and they are always great quality.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am so excited to be part of the Trimcraft Maker team! I have always loved their products and their range of papers & embellishments are always my go-to for every project. I love the variety of the ranges and the paper is amazing quality. Being a part of the Trimcraft Maker Team is really a dream come true for me, I am a big fan of their products and I can’t wait to try all the new & exciting products and to have my cards shared by them!”

“Hello my name is Jackie and I am a self-confessed paper crafting addict with a fondness for clean and simple card making. I have dabbled in lots of different crafts over the years including cross stitching, crochet and have even had a go at painting but it’s the paper crafting that I have fallen in love with. My favourite technics include die cutting, stamping and playing with inks and watercolours, I’m also partial to a sequin or two. My love of card making started approximately 6 years ago when I decided to have a go at making some Christmas decorations and cards, since then I have learned so much along the way and love to inspire others to have a go themselves. I am married with two wonderful grown up children and a beautiful little granddaughter that I cannot wait to teach all things crafty when she is old enough.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“When I found out I had been chosen for the new maker’s team I could not believe it, one of those OMG moments that left me smiling from ear to ear for several hours after. I am so excited to becoming part of a crafty team and cannot wait to start creating things that will hopefully inspire people to give card making and paper crafting a go.”

“Hello, my name is Jacqui - I’m from Dundee in Scotland and live there with my partner of 24 years and our two teenage daughters. I have 34 years experience in the creative industry designing magazines but took up crafting in 2005 while I was pregnant with my youngest. I had boxes full of photos of my firstborn and wanted to try putting together a scrapbook of her baby pics before no2 came along with a new deluge of photos. I instantly became addicted and found it a lovely creative way to pass on memories and important milestones of their baby/toddler years.  While on my scrapbooking journey I discovered I loved everything papercraft related, especially die cutting, stamping and card making. My style of papercrafting is generally a bit eclectic and always changing as I’m inspired by everything I see. I find a “clean and simple” card can be just as stunning as a card that’s had multiple techniques involved in the process of putting it together. Other times I feel the “more is more” approach is definitely the only way to go.  I love upcycling old cards and vintage images from old books. My favourite tool at the moment is my Scan ‘n’ Cut die cutting machine - I love the versatility to design my own elements and bespoke titles for projects. I’m passionate about sharing creativity and I’ve spent 4 years as a papercrafting demonstrator - showing off new products and making projects to inspire other crafters - it’s been such amazing fun! Crafters are such friendly, sharing, people - there’s room for all styles! I’m hoping to put all my skills and tips that others have shared with me to good use by putting together some fab new projects for Trimcraft.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I’m thrilled and delighted to be joining the Trimcraft design team - I’ve been a fan of their products since I started crafting 14 years ago! I love the diversity of their wide range of products and brands, each having their own different style and identity.  There’s so much scope for creativity and something to inspire everyone! I can’t wait to see the amazing new products for 2020 and hopefully create some great new projects to inspire you too!”

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for paper crafts and creating customised items. Inspired by my love of crafts, I set up JCCreationsGB and began creating custom home and party decor. I have loved watching JCC grow and expand in to new crafting areas. I’ve also enjoyed expanding my knowledge and skills in areas other than paper crafts. Some of my favourite makes include: Santa sleigh heart baubles, Unicorn cake toppers and the framed floral ombre heart, to name a few! I’m excited for what 2020 will bring and I look forward to creating new customised items for you and your loved ones!”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Trimcraft Maker team! This is such a wonderful opportunity, especially as I only launched my little business in early 2019. I look forward to collaborating with and being inspired by the other designers and crafters and I’m excited to create items from the amazing range of products which Trimcraft offers!”

“My name is Jennifer and I am a wife, mother of two married daughters and grandmother to two granddaughters and a grandson. My lovely husband John and I have been married for 51 years, so you know that I am an older crafter.  I have been crafting since a child when my pocket money was spent purchasing huge bags of off-cuts from the local paper mill for card making, drawing and painting. I also collected beautiful curly wood shavings from a local joinery and loved plaiting very thin coloured wire brought home for me by my electrician father. During my school years I attended our local art college on Saturdays and later. when working as a hairdresser, I used to make hairstyle illustrations for our special demonstrations throughout the island. When a wife and mother, I learned to craft with clay at evening classes. I got seriously back to paper crafting when making all the wedding stationery for the weddings of our two daughters. I have since made wedding stationery for many other lovely brides and cards for other people's special occasions. Paper crafting is my absolute passion and the challenge of creating something from a piece of plain card or paper is always something that I love. I also enjoy making flowers from paper, foam or clay and working with MDF, paints, acrylic, watercolour or alcohol inks. I am a firm believer that crafting should be prescribed on the NHS as it is so calming for the soul and distracting for the troubled. It's also simply great fun.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“To be on Trimcraft's Maker Team is absolutely incredible and totally unexpected and I know that I am very lucky indeed to have this opportunity to play with some amazing products. It's a fantastic Christmas gift to be selected. I hope that people will like my ideas and that I can do justice to all the wonderful products.”

“My name is Jo and I love all things crafty! I started my crafting journey about 5 years ago when I brought myself a sewing machine and taught myself how to sew. I spent many hours making little scent bags and other cute items that I would sell to family and friends. I then tried my hand at upcycling furniture using chalk paint and decoupaging everything in sight. It is coming up to 3 years since I first picked up a crochet hook and I haven’t looked back since. Admittedly, it took me a while to get the hang of it, but a lot of Youtube videos later and a few lessons with my friend in Costa and now there’s no stopping me. I like making amigurumi animals/creatures and things for the home but I just love the good old granny square. There’s nothing better than sitting down all cosy with my hooks and crocheting a blanket! I have recently started to crochet items of clothing by using other makers patterns but I really hope one day to write my own patterns for others to use. I’m a wife to a very understanding husband (he comes along to Yarndale with me and ignores the postman constantly delivering yet more yarn) and I have 3 brilliant kids. We live in the Midlands, home to the famous Yarningham Festival, which I also like to visit. I like finding little independent yarn shops to mooch around and squish all the yarn, but I love nothing more than putting a boxset on and getting out my hooks and all my yarn goodies.  I hope to one day get my very own craft room but for now, you’ll find me curled up on the sofa with my hooks and yarn!”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I'm very excited to be on the maker team at Trimcraft. I'm looking forward to working with fellow crafty people and exchanging tips and ideas with them. I'm also looking forward to receiving all the yarny goodies to play with and to get my creativeness on!!!”

“Hi I’m Karen Clare, a lifelong crafter based in Kent. I’m a self-taught, freelance craft tutor and demonstrator and over the past few years have run highly successful workshops and classes throughout the UK and regularly in my home area. I am very passionate about sharing craft with others and the therapeutic benefits of mindful craft. For me craft is more than creating, it’s the whole social environment, relaxing and coming together of likeminded people that form great friendships along the way. Enjoying a cuppa and some cake! I’m thankful to have gained wonderful friendships during my crafting journey, teaching and demonstrating. I like nothing more than engaging with crafters and sharing my love of craft. Breaking down techniques down into step by step stages so that others can be inspired to create gives me no greater pleasure. I have had the privilege of being on some wonderful design teams over the years alongside many very talented crafters. Out and about I enjoy meeting old friends and new crafters when I’m either working or socialising at retail and trade craft shows. I like and admire a wide variety of crafts, my particular interests being paper craft, card making, mixed media and home decor. I like to think outside the box and see no boundaries when experimenting with ideas and techniques. I’m often quite “random” in my creating and this stems back from childhood when I would experiment and play around with paper and card projects. There is always something new and different to learn in crafting and I see it as a never ending journey that for me has grown and evolved over the years. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to do something I love so much and am so passionate about."

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I have to say I had to pinch myself when I realised I had been selected for the Maker team, I had to reread the email! I was so excited as I’ve been a huge admirer and lover of Trimcraft products for such a long time. Now to have the opportunity to work with and review their exciting and innovative product ranges is a dream come true… I can’t wait to get started on the journey with the other amazingly talented team members and share lots of inspiration with you all.”

“Hi I’m Katharine and for as long as I can remember I’ve always been into some sort of crafting! When I was younger I loved cross stitch. My Nan used to give me her old books and threads to use. I also loved the ‘get set kits’; I had the cross stitch, candle making and stamping boxes (I still have them!). I first got into paper crafting when I was 19. I was gifted a small box and it had card blanks inside, some paper fairies that you could cut out, beads and bits of coloured handmade paper. I made a few cards and that was it for a while. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my son and my mum brought me a scrapbook album from America that I first discovered the world of scrapbooking. There wasn’t a lot of choice then but I was obsessed with watching with QVC especially with Dawn Bibby. I managed to do the first two years of my son’s life and then didn’t really have time after that as I had my daughter. Fast forward a good number of years and I’ve really got back into crafting. The last 3 years has really fuelled my creativity, especially after creating a space for myself and buying a large craft desk for most of my supplies. Like any messy crafter I end up trashing it every time I make anything and have a huge mess to clean up. But that’s part of the fun! Not only do I love paper crafting but I also enjoy planning, mixed media and art journaling. And when I’m not sitting at my desk I’m a self-taught cake maker, which I’ve been doing for over 5 years.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“There are no words that can properly describe how excited I am to be on the Trimcraft Makers Team. It’s definitely a dream come true and I’m truly grateful for being picked. This is the third time I’ve applied, so don’t give up if you ever fancy joining any Design Team. I’m so excited!!”

"Hi there! I’m Laura and I’m super excited to be joining the Trimcraft Maker Team! I love all Trimcraft products as they’re top quality, the paper designs are just gorgeous and it brings me a lot of joy using them. My crafting journey started a very long time ago. Since I was a toddler I started drawing, then I learned how to sew, embroider, knit and crochet from my grandmother and mother. During high-school I learned to paint and did clay modelling, I used to make some of my clothes and was collecting sewing patterns. Later I started becoming more involved in the craft world, taking part in craft fairs and creating my own style. Now I still learn new techniques, love experimenting and finding new ways to use the supplies I have. My 5 year old daughter is super crafty as well and I have fun seeing what she can create with just a few things. I’m not sure if I have a specific style, I would say it’s rather modern and artsy. I am inspired mostly by the supplies I own, trying to mix them in unusual ways. When I craft I try to think what I would like to have or make for myself, because I think if you put a personal touch in what you do others will love it too. Paper crafting is more of a new thing for me, as I started doing it 3 years ago, but I love how versatile and magical paper is. Even if I try to focus myself on one single craft I will never be able to do that as everything is so tempting and depends on the mood I’m in"

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

"Crafting is my passion and my happy place. I love sharing my creative endeavours via my blog, YouTube channel and Instagram and I like making step-by-step instructions as its much more fun knowing you helped someone create something by themselves."

“Hi! I'm Lesley, I'm 56 and I live in Leyland, Lancashire with my partner. I have two beautiful children - my daughter is 33 and my son is 24. I've always been keen on art and I took an art A level course at college when I left school and have dabbled with all kinds of arts and crafts since then including knitting, sewing, cross-stitch and calligraphy. Papercrafts became my full-time hobby when I was medically retired in 2012, from cardmaking, scrapbooking, mini albums, journaling to mixed media ....there's not much I haven't tackled! If it's made from paper then I'll have a go! One of my favourites is to construct items from chipboard. (I'm obsessed with boxes!)  I'm always happy when I can make something useful and gift it to someone. My craft room is a busy place. Over the years I've worked on design teams for several online sites and most recently as a team member for Fiskars UK (Facebook - Fiskarettes), also bricks and mortar companies too including  Papercraft inspirations magazine, Pinflair (Luvcrafts) and on a couple of occasions with CraftStash. My makes have made it to both major TV craft channels and it’s lovely when you see your work being appreciated. When I'm not in my craft room (which is rare!), I follow F1, MOTOGP and most other sports on TV and I'm currently getting my World Darts Championship fix!!! I love to read, tackle cryptic crosswords and I hate cooking! That just about sums me up but I hope to continue learning new skills and techniques and sharing my makes with you all.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

"When I found out I'd been invited to join the Makers at Trimcraft I almost choked on my lunchtime sandwich! The email was such a surprise as I truly thought my work wouldn't be good enough for the Makers Team, so I wasted no time in messaging my nearest and dearest with the news! They're all a great support. In fact, I have butterflies in my tummy right now writing this message! I'm beyond excited to be joining such an inspirational group!"

“Hello! My name is Lorre-Anne Archibald and I live in Aberdeenshire Scotland with my husband and 2 young sons. I've been crafting for around 10 years now and can be found at my craft desk most days working away on various projects. My main passion is paper crafting and I love to get my stamps and inks out to create backgrounds for my projects. I've also recently started to try my hand at mixed media and I'm loving the new challenge this brings. Crafting is such a fabulous hobby to have and I find it helps focus my mind and keeps me happy when anxious times arise.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am so excited to have been chosen as a Trimcraft Maker, and can't wait to get started on my first project.  I've used many Trimcraft products over the years and to now have the opportunity to design some samples and review various products is a dream come true.”

”I live in Norfolk with my husband and have loved crafting ever since I was a little girl. Over the years I have tried many crafts but my love of papercrafting started in 2006 with cardmaking and two years later I discovered scrapbooking. I took early retirement from my job as an HR Manager in 2010 and decided to start selling at craft fairs. I soon found I needed more than just cards to sell and started making papercrafted gifts such as plaques. I have been lucky enough to design for various companies and magazines over the years. A couple of years ago I rediscovered my love of embroidery and made some Christmas decorations and felt hearts. I also recently started cross stitching again.  I love coming up with new ideas of things to make and ways to combine different techniques.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am so excited to be joining the Trimcraft team and look forward to designing with their gorgeous products particularly their papers. I feel the time is right for a new challenge for me and I hope to inspire people with my projects.”

“My name is Mark Taylor I’m a 62 year old Grandpa to 4, Father to 2, Husband to 1 and I’ve been interested in art since I was at school which was quite a long time ago!  I’m now a full time carer for my wife so have a lot of time during the day to spend on my art & crafts which an upside to life at the moment.  I didn’t really do much about my art interest after leaving school until I fell off of a ladder and broke both wrists in my mid 30’s. This gave me time off work and during my physio I was able to explore my love of art and also discovered the much wider world of crafting and how they can intermingle.  Rubber stamping was such an eye opener and led me on to so many other things and products it’s so interesting to see how to use something in a different way from its usual purpose and art & craft allows such freedom to do that. During this time I found One Stroke painting, went on to become a teacher of that technique, then began to teach others to become teachers and that has introduced me to students from across the globe – from Japan, Mongolia, the Middle East, North Africa, South Africa, all across Europe and has given me the chance to visit the USA a few times and I’ve made many friends. I am always looking for inspiration for projects and classes and love to incorporate new techniques and products to achieve this.  Nature is always such a great source of inspiration for projects and as its all around there is never a shortage of that.  Something I always tell my teachers is to look around not just at nature, but at other painting techniques try other styles and methods to discover your own.”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“This is such an exciting and interesting experience and I can hardly wait to see what’s in store in the next year. Creating something new is what I look forward to and I really like to see new products and test them out to find how they work and what they can do and how they can inspire me and others.  Mixed media is such an expanding field at the moment and doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down any time soon so it will be nice to see what we can do with that.”

“Hi there, my name is Melanie but everyone calls me Mel. I live in Lanark, Scotland with my lovely and very understanding husband. I’ve been crafting since I was young in one form or another as we were a very crafty family. I am very lucky to call myself a Freelance Designer after winning Papercraft Magazine Designer of the Year! And now spend my days making and playing with paper for Practical Publishing Craft Magazines. I love all paper crafting and crafts in general but simply adore creating 3D paper creations. Something that I can spend hours on that I know will bring so much joy to someone when they see it! From hand making flowers, to building a paper Tree House I love it all. I’m a complete paper Magpie and could spend hours looking through and of course ‘stroking’ pretty papers! But only a crafter understands when you need to buy 2 paper pads so one can be looked at and the other used lol. My other love is colouring! Taking the time to colour an image with my alcohol marker, pencils or even paints just brings me joy. Then adding to a card or paper creation with matching papers. When not crafting I crochet, read (always have 2 books at least on the go) and walking with my husband in our home from home in the Scottish Highlands. Taking pictures and just enjoying the peace and tranquillity. Or when I have the time baking up treats for friends and family. I adore to teach a craft and help run our local Craft Club with my friend! We teach the lovely ladies a new craft every month, with lots of fun and laughter and not forgetting cake!”

“Wow! I really can’t believe I have this chance to be part of the Design Team! It’s just an amazing opportunity and I feel so lucky to be given this chance. Not only do I get to play with all the mazing pretty papers and can encourage others to create something similar with the products.”

“Hi, I’m Michelle aka Scrapthology from The Craft Blog and all those other crafty hangouts. I’ve been crafting forever and have tried many, but scrapbooking definitely took hold some fifteen years ago when Ray, then boyfriend, gave me a box of scrapping goodies……of course I married him after that! Like most of us, as soon as I got my hands on those pretty papers I was smitten and rapidly developed a taste for all things papercraft. However, what started as a fairly controllable scrapbooking hobby is now a 3D project, book making and everything in between full on obsession and I love it! I’m a big believer in more is more when it comes to sparkle or charms and can never resist adding a new colour or shape to my collection. When in doubt add some bling is my mantra and it serves me well - even Ray has realised bling gifts are always winners. Seasonal crafting is a big thing for me with Halloween and Christmas being my favourites - more of that sparkle again. It’s not all bling though, I’ve been known to varnish up some broken twigs for handles and I’ve a bit of a thing for black cardstock, it makes all other colour pop.”

“I’ve been lucky enough to be part of the Trimcraft design team previously and I think that really helped spur me on to developing a broader range of skills. So, you can imagine how chuffed I am to be back in the Trimcraft fold as a Maker, especially having seen all the gorgeous projects everyone has been posting. It was lovely to get the message and I can’t wait to get started creating with the gorgeous products. First Edition papers are always top of my fav list!”

“I’m Neil, and I’m a freelance mixed media artist, maker, designer and tutor working from my home studio in Leicester. I first got into crafting over 20 years ago, starting with peel offs and rubber stamping and card making before moving into scrapbooking and dabbling with mixed media and art journaling. After I retired early from my first career (at 39!), I retrained for two years at Leicester College and achieved an Extended Diploma in Art & Design which developed my work in design, illustration, mixed media, photography, jewellery making, printing and ceramics. I also quilt and crochet, teaching both at a local craft store. I’ve had a spell as a guest presenter on Hochanda, so you may recognise me from there. On my craft table at the moment: a dragon sculpture waiting for its clay covering, random Brusho crystals after my last art journaling class (they get everywhere) and I’m learning 3D computer design.”

“I’m so excited to be chosen to be a Trimcraft Maker - I love receiving a pack of goodies and finding innovative ways to use them, and can’t wait to get going! I’m looking forward to sharing my work and hopefully inspiring you to get crafting.”

“I’m Patricia Bond and I am 65 years old and live in Clacton in Essex with my other half, Bryan. I have been crafting, one way or another for as long as I can remember. My mum taught me to knit when I was about 11 years old and then I taught myself to crochet when I was about 18. I have made everything from doilies, dresses, throws, toys, cushions you name it I have probably made it at some time in my life. I didn’t start card making until I was about 50 and I have never looked back. I really enjoy it. I always make my Christmas and birthday cards and gift tags, sometimes just doing simple designs, depending on time. One of my other passions is x-stitching which I often incorporate into my card making. I did have my own shop some years ago where I sold dried and silk flower arrangements and gifts and of course handmade cards. I just love being creative. I have also dabbled in upcycling furniture and want to try my hand at rag wreath making. I have also just started quilling which I find a bit fiddly but I am getting there. More practice needed at the moment! I drive Bryan mad as I won’t throw any bits away as I do recycle old cards and bits and pieces which I use in my new designs. It’s amazing how creative you can be with bits that other people throw away.  There is something very therapeutic and satisfying about completing your latest project and something very exciting thinking about what is coming next. I am sure all crafters know where I am coming from.”

Patricia-Bond-(1).pngA comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am really excited and a bit nervous, to have been asked to join the Trimcraft Makers Team as I have never done anything like this before and it is always a joy to know that somebody else likes your work and thinks it’s good enough to share with others. I only hope I can live up to expectations!  I am so looking forward to trying new products, there is nothing more exciting than receiving some new crafting goodies to try out. I am also looking forward to seeing the other Makers crafts too as I am sure there will be some excellent talent on show to help inspire everyone no matter what level of crafting ability. I believe there is a crafting talent in all of us and it’s great fun finding out what we are capable of.”

“My name is Rachel Perryman and I’ve been crafting for about 15 years. I taught secondary school Geography for 9 years but gave that up 2 years ago and I’m now a stay at home mum with two children. Originally I started doing mixed media canvas as my main craft focus and have had success selling them at craft fairs and online. I really love the freedom to create that this allows you as if you don’t like how it looks… you can just call it another layer and cover it up with something else! It allows me to banish my inner perfectionist and create in a really intuitive way. In the last 5 years I’ve branched out to do scrapbooking and card making. I really love making cards that are out of the ordinary, with unusual folds or interactive elements and I’m an avid follower of Sam Clayton (who is a bit of a Trimcraft superstar). I often incorporate my love of mixed media into my cards and use stencils, inks, gelli prints and whatever else I can get my hands on to create interesting backgrounds. Lately I’ve become a bit obsessed with alcohol markers and colouring in stamped images to make coordinating card toppers.”

Rachel-Perryman-(1).pngA comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am so super excited to be picked as a Trimcraft Maker. I’ve been buying their products for years and I always find it really difficult not to buy every paper pad they release! I cannot wait to receive my first delivery of crafts so I can get working with them! Christmas has come early for me!”

“My name is Sarah Bolam I live in West Yorkshire with my Husband, 2 grown up daughters and a mad cocker spaniel. I’m not a trained artist or anything I actually went to catering college! But I want to show that creativity is in us all, and working with Trimcraft quality products and brands makes our craft projects look professional.

My craft journey began 20 years ago whilst on maternity leave! I started to dabble in card making and quickly became hooked. I remember doing a craft fair around 15 years ago and haven’t done one since! All I can say is big respect to those that do! Such a lot of effort goes into the preparation and I was then working full time with 2 children (don’t know how I did it). Then I went back to more recreational crafting always making my own birthday and Christmas cards and occasionally doing the odd commission – wedding/christening cards. I then started to venture into scrapbooking and was chuffed that one of my pages made front page of Scrapbooking Craft Magazine in 2004! Today I have lots of craft time with the family grown up, I’ve even taken up sewing which I love and my style now is very much combing my love of sewing with paper craft. There is definitely a mixed media element to my work, so these two hobbies work well together. I love patch working and free motion embroidery so expect to see me trying those techniques with paper! It’s going to be fun I can’t wait!”

Sarah-Bolam-(1).pngA comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am beyond excited! I have always been a big fan of Trimcraft products I adore the gorgeous First Edition Papers! With Wild Flowers being my all-time favourite! There isn’t a filler in that pack they are all standalone gorgeous papers! I have said my dream would be to have these available in fabric to work with! But hey I’m over the moon to be on the Maker team, so don’t want to go pushing my luck! (but wouldn’t that just be so lush!) I get so much inspiration from the Trimcraft blog, it’s very user friendly I love uploading my makes to the inspiration area it gives you a buzz to see them in your own kind of gallery! Equally I love checking out fellow crafters work, the diversity of ideas from using the same products/tools is truly magical! So… let the magic begin!”

“Without a doubt I live, dream and breathe crafts. I’ve been crafting for as long as I can remember but more seriously over the past 10 years.  I’ve grown as a crafter over the years, starting with papercraft and progressing to stamping and more advanced projects.  You never stop learning and perfecting your own skills. It’s so rewarding knowing you’ve inspired someone to make something you’ve demonstrated or written a tutorial for. I currently work for Create & Craft on their Content & Design Team, designing projects for their blog, social media and magazine. I also work for Sarah Hurley using her products to create projects for her blog. I’ve been on and still am on a number of Design Teams for various craft companies. I’m also a regular blogger and share projects and tutorials through my blog and social media.”

Shabneez-Khan-Muktar-(1).pngA comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“When the email arrived on Friday morning informing me I had been chosen to be a Maker it definitely made my day!  I’m a huge fan of Trimcraft products and have been a Demonstrator for them for the past few years. So when I was asked to be a Maker it was the icing on the cake!  I now get to test and promote craft products that excite and inspire me throughout the year!”

“My name is Tânia, I’m from Porto (Portugal) and I’m the dreamer behind Bem-me-quer Colorido. I´m 34 years old, I love creating things and share what I know with others. I also teach Sewing, History (my degree is in History) and European Cities at a Senior School (by the way my senior students are the best 😊). Since I can remember I loved crafting all around but as fast as I was growing, I left behind until 2013 when brought back this little passion. Started with felt and decoupage but fast I jumped into Scrapbooking (inspired by my grandparent old album) and later learned how to sew, knit, and make amigurumi and needle felting. Yes!! I know… too much things and all so different but all have a different place in my life. Some I do just for fun others because I really, really can’t stop making. That said my hands can’t deny that they love scrapbooking and mixed media (preferably the two together). I’m more me when my creativity is free without boundaries or overthinking in what I´m creating.  I specially don´t care if an album/project is to simple or to complex, the act of making one or documenting life is more important. The emotion of creating is more fulfil than other thing else. My creations reflect my state of mind so sometimes I create clean projects or sometimes I go with everything and “more is more 😊”

A comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“It´s difficult to me to put out in words all the feelings and thoughts that came into to my mind when I knew that would be a Trimcraft Maker. First, almost jumped out of my chair (really!! my husband is my witness) then I read again the email to be sure (LOL). Can´t wait to start! My mind is spinning with ideas. It´s a big opportunity to create new projects, develop new styles and is an awesome creativity challenge. Also looking forward to see what Trimcraft has prepared for all and work together with more creative people!”

“I am passionate about cardmaking and am a regular contributor to Crafts Beautiful and PaperCrafter magazines. I am particularly excited about die-cutting and love exploring the endless possibilities these durable metal dies can produce! I also enjoy creating interesting shaped cards using clever folds to add interactivity. I am inspired by other crafters, and can happily while away an evening on Pinterest and Instagram! I have my own cardmaking Instagram account and it’s great to know which designs are popular with other crafters. I am a graphic designer by day, drawn to more tactile crafts during my spare time, this year I made my first Christmas wreath which turned out surprisingly well. My next project is to learn brush lettering.”

Tracey-Daykin-Jones-(1).pngA comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

I am super excited to be part of the Trimcraft maker team and to be able to experiment with new and inspiring products. Immersing yourself in creativity is a wonderful way to spend your time, completely mindful and very satisfying. I am keen to challenge myself and learn new techniques.

“Hi I’m Vic I live in Buckinghamshire with my partner Dan and we have two girls Millie and Poppy. I love making cards and crafting. I have been crafting since I was 19 and I’m often in the craft room most evenings. I really enjoy making cards and colouring. I love to make colourful projects. In my spare time I love to read and spend time with my family.”

Vicki-Poulton-(1).pngA comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I’m so excited to be joining the Trimcraft maker team! I’ve always loved their products and it feels like a dream come true. I can’t wait to share my creations with you and hopefully inspire you too.”

“Hi my name is Claire Newcombe, otherwise known in the crafty world as Creative Makings. I am a stay at home Mum to 2 teenage boys, and make the most of my spare time by crafting and going to the gym. I have crafted in various guises since I was a girl, and began by teaching myself cross stitch. I found my love of paper crafts, when my eldest son was born and I made my announcement postcards letting everyone know he’d arrived.

Over the years my style has changed and developed into what I would describe now as clean and modern. I try to put a modern twist into all the products I use, whether it’s vintage papers or classic stamped images. My preference is to make cards, but I view them as small canvases, designing each one individually as a standalone piece of artwork that can be gifted. I am largely influenced by the natural world, and when given free reign tend to use lots of blues and greens against a natural palette, making me one of a few people (I think) who enjoys making cards and projects for guys. Having said that I do also get very excited by patterned paper, always happy to add new designs to my collection. As new products and designs are released I love to learn new skills - I'm currently mastering my pen work and spend many hours doodling, so give me some paper, stamps and some pen/inks and I’m a happy girl. I have been very fortunate to have been on a number of design teams in the past and contribute regularly to leading craft magazines, and even had a stint presenting on one of the TV craft channels. I spend many hours crafting on my own, so when the opportunity arises I run workshops in my local area and love to guide people through a project and see their pride at creating something they believed they couldn’t.”

Claire-Newcombe-(1).pngA comment about joining the Trimcraft Maker team:

“I am excited to now join the Trimcraft team because over the years I have used their products by choice, both in my own personal crafting and as quality materials in my workshops. I am looking forward to working with new and innovative products and sharing my ideas on how they can be used with your favourite go to supplies that you already own. Trimcraft are great at designing collections for all styles of crafter and I am excited to perhaps encourage others to try new things and share within the friendly community.”

We’d love to wish you all these new and wonderfully talented crafters a warm welcome to the Trimcraft Makers. We can’t wait to get making!
