Here we have created 3 different ways of upcycling jars to
make for your home, so get saving those leftover jars
to create something new! They can also make handy gifts for friends and
family.
Project 1: Up-cycled Sewing Jar Tutorial

What You Will Need
Glass Jar
First
Edition Haberdashery Dies
First
Edition Textured Card Stock
Hessian, Fabric & Wadding
Embellishments: Paper Flowers, Pearls, Lace, Ribbon & Twine
How to Make
1.
Stick the band of hessian to the jar, leave to dry then add the layered
ribbon and lace.
2.
Die cut some of the sewing dies in various coloured card and stick
to the jar. Thread some of the buttons with twine for a cute crafty look.
3.
We have used the mannequin die on our jar and decorated with a
pearl necklace and paper flower for a pretty finishing touch.

4.
To make the sewing pin lid, cut a circle of card stock to fit the
lid of the jar and then cover with the wadding and fabric. Stick the fabric under
the card and add to this to the lid, edge with ribbon and lace to hide the
rough edges and finish with a ribbon bow.
Project 2: Frosted Photo Pencil Pot

What You Will Need
Glass Jar
DecoArt Frosted
Gloss Enamel Glass Paint
Dovecraft Glitter Glue
Paintbrush
Washi
tape
How to Make
1.
Stick some strips of Washi tape onto a smooth surface and draw a
heart shape onto it. This will form the window for your pencil pot so make sure
it’s big enough for your photo. Lift the tape and cut out the heart. Stick onto
the clean jar to cover up a section.
2.
Paint the jar with the DecoArt frosted enamel glass paint. Once dry,
remove the Washi tape to show the clear heart.
3.
Add some sparkle by using the liquid glitter glue to create a
border around the top of the jar and the heart.
4.
Paint the top lip of your jar with PVA and sprinkle with glitter
to add a touch of sparkle.

5.
Cut and fix your photo inside the glass jar using clear squares,
then fill with your favourite stationery.
Project 3: Herb Jar Tutorial

What You Will Need
Glass Jar
First
Edition Paper Flowers Pad
First
Edition Textured Card Stock
First
Edition Letter Dies
Fiskars Circle Punch & Scalloped Circle Punch
How to Make
1.
Cut a piece of Paper Flowers backing paper to wrap around the jar
and stick to the jar using First Edition Deco Mache Glue Varnish.
2.
Add a smaller strip of patterned card stock to the jar to create a
band.
3.
Die -cut the letters to spell the Herb names out and stick to a
strip of kraft card before fixing to the paper band.
4.
To create the bird disc tags, punch 3 patterned circles and 3
kraft scalloped circles using the Fiskars punches, layer together. Cut 3 birds
from the 12 x 12 pad and add to the centre of the circles. To finish, peg them onto
the jars to decorate.
